Hard Cider & Herb Braised Chicken (or Lamb)

Drink: Barefoot Cabernet Cozy Pour

Ingredients

  • 4–6 chicken thighs (or lamb shoulder pieces if you want deeper flavor )

  • 1 bottle Angry Orchard cider

  • 1 cup Bota Box white wine (optional but elevates it)

  • 2 tbsp butter or oil

  • 4 carrots, chopped

  • 1 onion, sliced

  • 4 cloves garlic

  • Fresh thyme + rosemary

  • Salt + pepper

  • 1 tbsp honey (optional, balances acidity)

Method

  1. Sear the meat hard Salt it well. Brown it in a heavy pan until golden. Remove.

  2. Build the base In the same pan: onions, carrots, garlic. Let them soften and pick up the browned bits.

  3. Deglaze (this is where the magic happens)

  4. Pour in:

    • 1 bottle cider

    • Wine (if using)

    Scrape everything up. That’s your flavor.

  5. Return meat + herbs Add thyme, rosemary, honey.

  6. Slow cook

    • Covered, low heat: 45–60 minutes

    • Or oven: 325°F

  7. Finish Uncover last 10 minutes to thicken.

  • Tender meat that falls apart

  • Sweet-acidic glaze

  • Vegetables that are enhanced with flavor.


This is early spring earthy flavors that also acknowledges spring has arrived, with flowers and trees embracing the season.

Spring Lemon Cake

🌸 Spring Equinox Dessert: Twisted Tea Honey Lemon Cake

(using Twisted Tea as the liquid base)


Why this works

Tea is infusion—drawing essence out of plant into water. That’s literally what spring is doing to the earth.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup Twisted Tea

  • 2 cups flour

  • 1 cup sugar

  • ½ cup butter (or oil)

  • 3 eggs

  • Zest + juice of 1 lemon

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • Pinch salt

  • 2 tbsp honey

Glaze

  • Powdered sugar + lemon juice + splash of Twisted Tea

Method

  1. Cream butter + sugar

  2. Add eggs one at a time

  3. Mix in:

    Lemon zest

    Honey

  4. Alternate adding:

    Flour mixture

    Twisted Tea

  5. Bake:

    350°F

    ~35–40 minutes

  6. Glaze while warm


Optional (but powerful)

  • Add edible flowers

  • Serve with whipped cream or yogurt

What you get

  • Light, slightly floral cake

  • Subtle tea bitterness grounding the sweetness

  • Bright citrus = emergence, clarity
