Summer Is in Full Swing in Southwest Idaho ☀️🍒

Summer has officially arrived in Southwest Idaho.

The days are longer, the evenings are warmer, and the valley is settling into one of its most beautiful seasons. Across the fields, crops are growing quickly, orchards are heavy with developing fruit, irrigation water continues to flow through the farmland, and the familiar sights and sounds of summer are returning to every corner of the community.

The weather has certainly kept us guessing this year.

One day feels like midsummer, the next reminds us that Idaho still likes to keep us on our toes. But even with the occasional cool morning or surprise cloud cover, there is no denying that summer has arrived. The rivers are calling, campgrounds are filling, boats are returning to the water, and families are making plans for weekends spent outdoors.

And here in Emmett, one of the most exciting times of the year is about to begin.

🍒 Cherry Festival Season Is Here

The countdown is over.

Emmett's beloved Cherry Festival officially begins on June 17th, bringing visitors, families, and community members together to celebrate one of the valley's most cherished traditions.

For generations, the Cherry Festival has marked the arrival of summer in Gem County. It is a time filled with community pride, local traditions, laughter, great food, entertainment, and of course, plenty of cherries.

Whether you're attending the parade, enjoying the festivities, visiting local vendors, or simply spending time with family and friends, the Cherry Festival is one of those events that reminds us what makes living in Southwest Idaho so special.

As visitors arrive and celebrations begin, it's also the perfect opportunity to stop by Main Street Beverage and discover our latest New Deals before heading out to enjoy the festivities.

🚗 Father's Day Weekend and the Lions Club Car Show

Looking for something fun to do with Dad this Father's Day weekend?

The Emmett Lions Club Car Show returns on June 20th and is always a favorite summer tradition. Classic cars, restored trucks, vintage treasures, modern muscle, and plenty of stories shared between generations make this one of the most enjoyable community events of the season.

It's the perfect opportunity to spend time together, stroll through rows of beautiful vehicles, and admire the craftsmanship and history behind each one.

Afterward, why not continue the celebration with a backyard BBQ, a family dinner, or a favorite summer dessert featuring fresh local cherries?

There is something timeless about sharing good food, good company, and a warm Idaho summer evening with the people who matter most.

Featured Recipes of the Month: June is the Month for BBQ, Fathers Day and the Cherry Festival

The Payette River Father's Day Tri-Tip

Because nothing says Idaho summer quite like smoke drifting across the backyard, irrigation water running through the valley, cherries ripening in the orchards, and a tri-tip slowly soaking up a little Budweiser while the family gathers around the grill. 🍒🔥🍺

Ribs sizzling on a grill at a park picnic, with kids playing in a splash pad and an Emmett water tower in the background.
Fathers Day Riverbank Tri-Tip

Idaho Riverbank Budweiser Tri-Tip

A Southwest Idaho Father's Day favorite with a Budweiser garlic butter baste.

Serves 8-10

Ingredients

Tri-Tip

  • 1 whole tri-tip roast (2½ to 3 pounds)

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 2 tsp kosher salt

  • 2 tsp cracked black pepper

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

Budweiser Basting Sauce

  • 1 bottle Budweiser

  • 4 tbsp butter

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard

Optional Beer Spritz

Combine in a spray bottle:

  • 1 cup Budweiser

  • ½ cup apple juice

  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Pat the tri-tip dry.

  2. Rub with olive oil, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.

  3. Allow to rest at room temperature for 30 minutes.

  4. In a small saucepan combine all basting sauce ingredients.

  5. Simmer gently until reduced by about one-third.

  6. Preheat grill to medium-high heat.

  7. Sear tri-tip 4-5 minutes per side.

  8. Move to indirect heat.

  9. Every 10 minutes brush generously with the Budweiser baste.

  10. If using the spritz, lightly spray the meat between basting sessions.

  11. Cook until internal temperature reaches:

  12. 130°F for medium rare

  13. 140°F for medium

  14. Remove and rest for 15 minutes before slicing against the grain.

What It Tastes Like

The Budweiser creates a slightly sweet caramelized crust with hints of toasted grain and garlic butter. The Worcestershire adds depth while the brown sugar helps form those beautiful grill marks every dad secretly admires. The flavor is rich without being heavy, perfect for a hot Idaho afternoon.

Serve With

🌽 Grilled Sweet Corn with Herb Butter

🥔 Red Potato Salad

🍒 Fresh Emmett cherries

🥒 Cucumber salad

🍺 Ice-cold Budweiser or Bud Light

Apple and Bacon Burnt Ends - Appetizer

Bacon-wrapped grilled fruit bites on a tray at a sunny park picnic, with beer bottles, cherries, and a blurred splash fountain behind

Angry Orchard Bacon & Apple Burnt Ends

These disappear frighteningly fast at Idaho BBQs.

Serves 8

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs thick-cut bacon

  • 2 Granny Smith apples, diced

  • ½ cup Angry Orchard Hard Cider

  • ¼ cup brown sugar

  • 2 tbsp maple syrup

  • 1 tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp smoked paprika

  • Toothpicks

Instructions

  1. Preheat grill to 350°F.

  2. Cut bacon strips in half.

  3. Wrap each piece around a small chunk of apple.

  4. Secure with toothpicks.

  5. Place in a cast-iron skillet or foil pan.

  6. Combine Angry Orchard, brown sugar, maple syrup, pepper, and paprika.

  7. Pour over bacon bites.

  8. Grill for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  9. Continue cooking until the liquid becomes sticky and caramelized.

  10. Serve warm.

Taste

Sweet apple, smoky bacon, and a cider glaze that becomes almost candy-like around the edges. The tartness of the apple keeps them from becoming overly rich.

Together, the menu tastes like an Idaho June afternoon: orchards heavy with fruit, irrigation water running through the valley, smoke rising from the grill, and family gathered around the picnic table waiting for Dad to claim the first slice of tri-tip. 🍒🌽🔥🍎🍺
