After you’ve stocked up, the next step is simple — what are you making with it?
Each ad cycle, we build a couple of recipes around what’s on special. Something straightforward, something worth sharing, and something that fits naturally into a July weekend.
Backyard Beer-Glazed Ribs

There’s a point in the evening when the heat softens, the grill settles in, and no one’s in a hurry to leave. These ribs are built for that moment — slow-cooked, lightly spritzed, and finished with a rich glaze that brings everything together.
🍺🔥 Serves 4–6
Ingredients
2 racks baby back ribs
1 bottle Rolling Rock
¼ cup apple cider vinegar
¼ cup apple juice
2 Tbsp yellow mustard
½ cup brown sugar
2 Tbsp smoked paprika
1 Tbsp garlic powder
1 Tbsp onion powder
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp black pepper
2 tsp kosher salt
½ tsp cayenne (optional)
1 cup barbecue sauce
2 Tbsp honey
1 Tbsp butter
Directions
Remove the silver skin and coat ribs with mustard.
Mix dry ingredients and rub generously over the ribs. Let rest 30 minutes.
Preheat grill/smoker to 250°F. Cook ribs bone-side down for 2 hours.
Mix Rolling Rock, vinegar, and apple juice. Spritz every 30–40 minutes.
Wrap ribs with a splash of beer and a bit of brown sugar. Cook another 1½–2 hours.
Simmer barbecue sauce, honey, butter, and a splash of beer for 5–8 minutes.
Unwrap ribs, glaze, and return to grill for 15–25 minutes until caramelized.
Slice and serve.
Liberty Bell Lemon Cake Shandy Float

This year marks the 250th birthday of the United States, and Emmett is preparing for a celebration unlike anything our community has seen in generations.
For the first time in more than 100 years, Gem County will host the America 250 Gem County Parade.
Be sure to head downtown early and claim your spot along Main Street and Washington Avenue because the parade begins at 11:00 a.m. This historic event promises community pride, patriotic spirit, and memories that families will talk about for years to come. The celebration continues at 12:00 p.m. with the America 250 Family Festival at the Mill, featuring food, games, activities, and fun for all ages.
Then, as evening settles over the valley, prepare for something truly extraordinary.
At 10:20 p.m., Gem County will present the biggest fireworks show our county has ever seen. Bring your lawn chairs, gather the family, and celebrate America's 250th birthday beneath a sky filled with color and light.
There are moments in small-town life that become cherished memories. This July promises to be one of them.
